Diane F. Bosse, a partner in the Buffalo law firm of Hurwitz & Fine, will receive the Erie County Bar Association’s 2014 Lawyer of the Year Award. The following awards also will be presented: Outstanding Jurist, U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeremiah J. McCarthy, Western District of New York; Award of Merit, Marianne Mariano, federal public defender; Charles H. Dougherty Civility Award, Oliver C. Young, principal court attorney for State Supreme Court, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Catherine “Katie” Baumgarten; and Special Service Award, Julie Loesch, director of Child & Family Services’ Center for Resolution and Justice. In addition, candidates for Bar Association offices in the June 13 election will be introduced at the dinner, and local attorneys who have been practicing for 25 and 50 years will be recognized.
