U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit: Implementation of NextGen CM/ECF - Complete

On October 27, 2014 the Ninth Circuit and Ninth Circuit BAP rolled out the “Next Generation of CM/ECF (NextGen CM/ECF).” According to the Court's website, “This [is] a preliminary step towards the nationwide goal of e-filers using just one username and password to file in all federal courts. There will be a lengthy transition time before we reach that goal, however, and currently only the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Ninth Circuit are live with the NextGen CM/ECF system.”

Now, in order to e-file in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, an upgraded PACER account must be linked to the Court’s e-filing account. Two steps are required:

1. An upgrader PACER account is required;
2. The upgraded PACER account must be linked to the 9th circuit ECF account.
